Synopsis
Nat (James Alexander Mackie) is making a road trip to Chiang Mai with his girlfriend, Poon (Siriphun Wattanajinda) to meet up with some friends over there. Poon requests Nat to drop by Uthai Thani on the way so that she could meet his mother (Penpak Sirikul), whom she had never met before.
After arrival Nat's mother asks him to go and make merit at nine temples to ward off misfortune, as she is worried they will be facing some bad luck soon. The following day she needs to deliver a Buddha statue to another district and asks them not to leave so soon, as she wants to take Nat to pray at the temple later.
However, instead of waiting for his mother, Nat brings Poon to see picture collections of Buddha's teachings as well as his wall painting painted during his junior high school at the temple. Nat is greatly impressed by her mother's generous donation effort to the temple that she receives a nickname called 'Nitayaram'.
Later Nat throws a stone at a bird that is trying to eat a worm and suddenly a novice monk turns up and explains to him that it is the cycle of karma between the bird and the worm, and tells Nat not to interfere with the cycle. Monk Sujitto (Pharadorn Sirakovit) happens to be Nat's childhood friend and they had not met for 10 years.
Monk Sujitto is heading up north to Nan province for pilgrimage purpose at Bo Kleu temple. Nat then offers him a ride and he gladly accepts it. During the journey Nat sees a headless dog and his jeep's windshield got broken. Despite passing few temples at various locations, Nat decides to ignore the visit call by his mother.
Instead he spends his time by playing snooker, drinking and love making with Poon, not realizing a dark ghostly figure is watching them. At one stage Nat nearly got drowned and injured his forehead. Poon takes over as driver but she knocks down a calf during the journey. The calf loses its life and Poon starts to feel regret.
While inside a temple Poon is disturbed by a horrible hallucination and asks for piece of advice from Monk Sujitto. He tells her that since she had taken away the calf's life she will be haunted by the karma which is equivalent of a bloodhound pursuing its prey to the end, regardless of how fast or how far she runs.
Monk Sujitto later reveals that it is not a coincidence the three are involved in the journey together. The past are connected to the present, and surprisingly Nat's mother is involved, too. What are the connections? Will Nat ever free himself from the negative karma? Will Poon inform Nat about her pregnancy?
